10 Months...

Ok.... so, I do realize that Madilyn has been 10 months old since February 17th, and it is now March and I still have not posted anything. My little girl has kept me QUITE busy lately!! I don't have any pictures or videos of her taking steps saved on this computer, but I will do my very best to post some soon. She is scootin' around pretty well! She can take 4-5 steps on her own here and there. She will do it on her own w/out prompting sometimes too! She has her push walker toy that she takes all around the house. She seems so proud that she can turn it and go any direction and in any room that she wants. She likes to run it into walls, pull it back and then run into another wall or furniture... etc. She is so quick now! I turn around and she's on the other side of our house in our bedroom... how did she get there so quickly?
Her new favorite thing is digging through my purse. I didn't know she would become so enthralled with purses so young, but she LOVES pulling EVERYTHING out and then chewing on paper. Yes, my child loves paper... she loves crinkling it, chewing on it (and then choking on it), throwing it on the floor in piles, etc. She loves it when we bring the mail in and mistakenly put it on the entry way bench... soon it's strewn all over the entry way with her sitting in the middle of it with a huge smile on her face and the corner of the envelope in her mouth. She's entertained so easily, but makes such a mess!! HA!
She's eating more and more table food, and really prefers it to baby food of any kind. I am still feeding her baby cereal for 1 meal a day to make sure she's getting enough vitamins and iron, but other than that, I nurse her 3 times per day and she has 2 meals of regular table food and 1 meal of baby cereal with fruit and a veggie. I am trying really hard to get her to like whole milk, but she's just not a fan. I may have to try a different sippy cup, because when she drinks it and it's not the normal water that comes out, she pushes the cup away and wants nothing to do with it. We may have to have a water cup, and a milk cup so she'll know what to expect when she starts drinking from it.
We have gotten a new toy!!! I go to Kendall's Closet in Blythewood quite frequently to look for some cute clothes or toys... this is a kids consignment store, so I get used things that look like new for AMAZING prices!! I got a ton of Doug&Melissa puzzles for Madilyn for Christmas for less than half of what they would have been, and they looked like they had never been used. ANYWAYS, I got a bike trailer!!! It seats 2 kids and hooks to the back of a bike, or can be used as a stroller. It's so awesome, I can't wait for it to get warm enough for us to go bike riding on the river walk. Madilyn just loves the outdoors so much, I know she'll love it! We tried it out as a stroller the other night, and she really enjoyed it. It will be great for the fair too, because it has like a mesh/screen that goes over the front/top so it will keep bees and all of the bugs out so I won't be paranoid! :) I think we have to get Madilyn a helmet, but probably just if we are going to ride it in neighborhoods near cars... It's gonna be a fun summer! It's funny though, if Madilyn is fussy or restless @ all, I just take her in her stroller (bundle her up in the winter) and we go for a walk and she's just happy and content. She just LOVES being outside. When we are on a walk she is so quiet! She's NEVER quiet, but on a walk she is just quiet and takes it all in. It's so cute!
I am not sure how much she weighs this month, I haven't gotten her to stand still on the scale long enough. She is in 9-12 month clothes, and some 12 mo stuff fits her if I roll up the pants a bit. She's just growing faster than I ever thought babies did. I am realizing what people say when they tell me to enjoy every moment because she will be out of that stage before I know it. That's so true! I am trying to cherish every moment I have with her and not wish for the next stage, but love the one she's in.
That's it for now! I'll try to get a video/picture on later so you'll see her new skill of taking some steps!!

  1. We had the same problem with Maddie not taking milk from a sippy cup--juice yes but milk had to come from the bottle. I started out mixing formula/whole milk in her bottle so you could probably mix with breast milk. Once she started taking all whole milk, I put it in a straw sippy cup and didn't offer juice for a couple of days (like dr. said) and within a couple of days, she loved drinking milk from it!
